Alcohol suspected in fatal San Antonio crash

Alcohol and driving is never a good mix, but people in San Antonio continue to disregard the dangers. In 2015, the Texas Department of Transportation reported that throughout the state, 960 people died as the result of an alcohol-related crash. These statistics include passengers, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Statewide, there were more than 8,000 accidents attributed to drunk driving, 1,610 of which were categorized as incapacitating. When people choose to get behind the wheel of their vehicle, they put the lives of everyone around them at risk.

Just recently, two drivers were seriously injured and a child died in a crash where alcohol is suspected as a factor by authorities. The child was with a woman who may have been under the influence. Officers did not release any information on why they are considering this factor or whether the woman has been administered a blood or breath test. It is also unknown whether the child and woman were related.

Apparently, the woman turned left in front of a truck that was crossing through the intersection. The driver of that vehicle is expected to be okay but the extent of the injuries he suffered in the crash was not stated.

Injuries from any car accident can be serious and life-altering. A brain injury is unpredictable and has the ability of leaving people struggling with memory, physical movement and thought processes. A spinal cord injury could result in paralysis and damage to the back generates untold pain and suffering. When people are injured in a car accident that is caused by another’s negligence, it would be a good idea to meet with an experienced attorney.
