Existen organismos estatales y federales que apoyan y protegen a los empleados haciendo cumplir a los empresarios la normativa de seguridad.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan Chron.com, la Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo recopila informaci\u00f3n sobre tipos espec\u00edficos de <a href=\"http:\/\/smallbusiness.chron.com\/workers-compensation-injury-osha-reportable-81991.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">accidentes laborales<\/a>. Aunque las compa\u00f1\u00edas de seguros de accidentes laborales tambi\u00e9n recopilan datos sobre lesiones de los trabajadores, el uso que hacen de las estad\u00edsticas es diferente.<\/p>\n<p>La indemnizaci\u00f3n por accidente laboral tiene por objeto cubrir los gastos m\u00e9dicos de los empleados relacionados con su lesi\u00f3n o enfermedad laboral, as\u00ed como una parte de los salarios perdidos. Los datos ayudan a garantizar que los empleados reciban la atenci\u00f3n y la cobertura necesarias. Se debe registrar una lesi\u00f3n o enfermedad si un empleado pierde un d\u00eda o m\u00e1s de trabajo. Tambi\u00e9n hay que registrar una situaci\u00f3n si la enfermedad o lesi\u00f3n provoca alguna de las siguientes situaciones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transferencia de trabajo o funciones restringidas<\/li>\n<li>P\u00e9rdida de conocimiento<\/li>\n<li>Da\u00f1o significativo que da lugar a un diagn\u00f3stico por parte de un profesional sanitario<\/li>\n<li>Da\u00f1os que requieren tratamiento m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los primeros auxilios b\u00e1sicos<\/li>\n<li>Muerte<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aunque no todas las empresas deben notificar todas las lesiones o enfermedades relacionadas con el trabajo, algunos casos graves afectan a todas las empresas cubiertas por la Ley OSH, y tambi\u00e9n existe un requisito de l\u00edmite de tiempo. Una amputaci\u00f3n, la p\u00e9rdida de un ojo o la hospitalizaci\u00f3n deben notificarse en un plazo de 24 horas.
