Seg\u00fan la Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (OSHA), los trabajadores que realizan sus tareas bajo el sol directo y en condiciones de calor, como ocurre en muchos pozos de petr\u00f3leo y gas, corren un riesgo mayor que otros trabajadores de sufrir un golpe de calor.<\/p>\n<p>La enfermedad m\u00e1s grave relacionada con el calor es el golpe de calor, pero los trabajadores tambi\u00e9n pueden sufrir problemas menos graves, como calambres o erupciones cut\u00e1neas. Cuando el \u00edndice de calor es de 91 grados o m\u00e1s, aumenta el riesgo de que los trabajadores desarrollen esta afecci\u00f3n. Otros factores que contribuyen a ello son:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Realizar trabajos f\u00edsicos duros<\/li>\n<li>Llevar ropa de protecci\u00f3n, que a menudo no es transpirable.<\/li>\n<li>Trabajar cerca de fuentes de calor u objetos calientes<\/li>\n<li>No haberse aclimatado a temperaturas m\u00e1s altas<\/li>\n<li>No hay movimiento de aire<\/li>\n<li>Aumento de la humedad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En situaciones de estr\u00e9s t\u00e9rmico, puede producirse deshidrataci\u00f3n y muerte cuando aumenta la temperatura interna del cuerpo. El calor excesivo reduce la capacidad de una persona para enfriarse mediante el sudor y otros m\u00e9todos naturales de refrigeraci\u00f3n. En las primeras fases del estr\u00e9s t\u00e9rmico, una persona puede volverse irritable o empezar a tener dificultades para concentrarse, lo que puede aumentar el riesgo de que sufra lesiones en un accidente.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/mm6331a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Centros para el Control y la Prevenci\u00f3n de Enfermedades<\/a>Una herramienta importante que deben aplicar los empresarios es contar con una persona encargada de un programa de protecci\u00f3n contra el calor. Dentro de este programa, debe haber formaci\u00f3n para que los trabajadores puedan reconocer los signos de estr\u00e9s t\u00e9rmico, as\u00ed como un seguimiento de los propios trabajadores. Adem\u00e1s, los empresarios deben contar con planes para emergencias, as\u00ed como modificar los horarios de trabajo y proporcionar descanso y agua. Tambi\u00e9n deben controlarse las temperaturas, y los trabajadores deben aclimatarse al entorno exterior para reducir su riesgo.<\/p>\n<p>Los CDC se\u00f1alan que, a pesar del programa de concienciaci\u00f3n de la OSHA para prevenir los golpes de calor, \"Agua. Sombra\", sigue habiendo algunos problemas, en gran parte debido a la dependencia de la agencia de las citaciones 5(a)(1) - la agencia actualmente no ha establecido una norma de calor para que los empleadores la sigan.
